Hot tub parties offer up some really fun Facebook-worthy photo ops. When you’re hosting a party your first instinct may be to take photos to show off the fun, but should the camera get an invite to the party?

Our answer is: ask first.

Either at the beginning of the party or when you’re getting ready to take a photo, pause and make sure everyone gives their go-ahead.

Some of our friends can be self conscious of how they look in swimsuits. Others may be Facebook friends with colleagues, clients, or even their employees and may not want everyone on Facebook seeing them in such a casual light. Asking before bringing the camera out keeps them from feeling obligated to get in the photo.

After asking, you may find that everyone’s excited about taking photos! It’s still a good idea to ask before posting any of the photos to social media. We live in a very social age, so we’re all used to hearing “Can these go up on Facebook?”

Asking before taking photos and asking before posting any is a courteous way of letting friends know that you care about their privacy.
